Dear students and parents,
Welcome to Rockland Chinese School!
How amazing and exciting it is for us to have the opportunity to learn Chinese language and culture together here today. This is particularly true for a society emphasizing so much on its diversity.
It is well acknowledged that mandarin is becoming an important language full of potential in today’s world. As a matter of fact, it is possible that mandarin may even become a language of international commerce in the future. Furthermore, many of you here today have either a Mainland Chinese or Taiwanese cultural background. This makes our learning even more important and meaningful, way beyond language itself. We sincerely hope that by way of learning you might appreciate the value of your cultural heritage and retain your own roots. And this is why we emphasize so much on culture sessions as well as language courses. While you are growing up to be American teenagers and adults, we hope somehow you can keep your unique Chinese integrity as well.
While we are enjoying freedom and prosperity of this country, we should also consider contributing and devoting what we have to this open-minded society. This year, we are planning to open a NEW “ Mandarin Conversation Class", hoping this will bring more people to Chinese School. If possible, we also intend to bring cultural programs to Rockland community. In order to be respected in this society, we must let our voice be heard first. For that, Rockland Chinese School is your stage right there.
Teaching is a way of learning. By way of mutual learning, we hope we can build a bridge between different cultures and we will have a better tomorrow. Thank you very much for your support. We always need your encouragements. Please spread out this message to your neighborhood.
